Is Healthy Snacking Sabotaging Your Weight Loss?
Are you a snacker?
Before I started taking a deep dive into this stuff, I didn’t consider myself a real snacker because my snacks were ‘healthy’.
🔸 A few grapes on my way past the fruit bowl,
🔸 Herbal tea with honey,
🔸 A handful of nuts,
🔸 A small cup of homemade soup between meals,
🔸 A handful of healthy crackers when I got home from work,
🔸 Celery sticks and hummus…
I self-righteously applauded myself because I wasn’t hitting drive-throughs, tanking up on coffee or energy drinks, or snacking on chocolate or cookies…
Here’s the thing: Your grazing habit—even the healthy grazing—may be inadvertently keeping you stuck.

How Frequent Snacking May Affect Weight Loss
Frequent snacking can get in the way of weight loss and easy weight maintenance.
To give you a little context: When I have clients that want to gain weight, my recommendation is for them to eat more frequently.
If you feel like your metabolism is broken and nothing is working, consider this:
Frequent snacking can keep blood sugar and insulin levels elevated throughout the day, which can then set off cravings, put you in fat storage-mode, set you up for energy crashes and can mess with hunger signals over time.
Why Blood Sugar Balance Matters for Weight Loss
One of the basic principles behind the program that I work with, called Metabolic Balance, is keeping blood sugar stable throughout the day.
Stabilizing blood sugar and insulin is HUGE when it comes to weight management, lowering inflammation and overall prevention.
Metabolic Balance is an integral part of my signature coaching program for one simple reason: It works!
I’ve stopped trying to reinvent the wheel when it comes to meal plans and personalized recommendations. Metabolic Balance brilliantly handles all of that, and it’s where I’ve seen my clients get amazing results.
The Metabolic Balance Approach: 5 Hours Between Meals
One of the main lifestyle recommendations within the program is to allow a full 5 hours between meals, with only water in between.
Disclaimer: Attempting this without an appropriate balance of protein and carbohydrates for YOU may set you up for cravings and may make things more difficult than they need to be.

I still occasionally hear from clients that were told by a trainer or another health professional to eat several small meals a day.
While this may be appropriate in certain situations, eating several small meals a day it is outdated advice in the context of weight loss or blood sugar balance.
