3 Simple Shifts to Support Metabolism, Healthy Weight, and Energy
If you want to support metabolism, healthy weight, energy, and overall well-being, here are three simple shifts you can start this week.
These small, practical changes can help reduce inflammation, improve how your body feels, and support long-term health—without perfection or extremes.
1️⃣ Eat Foods Closer to Their Natural State
The more a food is refined or tinkered-with, the more likely it is to work against your body and contribute to inflammation.
When choosing between versions of the same food, go for the least processed option.
A good tip is to keep the amount of unpronounceable words listed in the ingredient list to a minimum.
🚩 Beware of the words “artificial flavours” or “artificial colours.”
The image below lists the ingredients that make up only one artificial strawberry flavour (found in strawberry yogurt). This is a great reminder of how far some foods have moved away from their natural state.
Eating real, whole foods more often is one of the simplest ways to support metabolism naturally.

2️⃣ Stop Fearing Fat – Start Choosing Better Fats
Healthy fats help with satiety, hormones, brain health, and inflammation.
Focus on:
- olive oil
- butter
- organic coconut oil
- eggs (with the yolk)
- nuts and seeds
- avocados
Try to skip highly processed vegetable oils, such as:
- margarine
- canola oil
- corn oil
- soybean oil
- palm oil
Highly processed oils (like the ones in the image below) are widely used in processed foods and are contributing to inflammation—which can interfere with energy levels, metabolism, and overall health.
Choosing better fats is a powerful (and often overlooked) shift for healthy weight and hormone balance.

3️⃣ Watch Your Inner Dialogue
Your mindset matters more than you might think.
Critical self-talk and perfectionism activate stress in the body, which can keep you stuck in the patterns you’re trying to move away from.
Stress doesn’t just affect your mood—it can impact metabolism, digestion, hormones, and inflammation.
