From Smoker to Kale Peddler: My Journey into Holistic Nutrition
When I started this journey, I didn’t even know what holistic meant.
I was a smoker, eating for taste and cost (not health), sedentary, and stressed to the max. I wasn’t headed down a great path.
It was my dad’s emotional and physical health struggles — along with my years working with seniors — that sparked my passion for holistic nutrition.

What Holistic Health Really Means
In holistic health, every part of your body — along with your mind and spirit — is in constant and complex interplay. It’s not just about fixing one symptom; it’s about understanding how everything connects.
Back then, I saw how many seniors felt like victims of their genetics. Our conventional medical model doesn’t always promote personal health agency.
Think about it — when was the last time your doctor asked about your stress levels, sleep, or nutrition?
No blame, just facts: the standard model is often inherit the genes, get the condition, see the doctor, take the pills.
You Hold More Power Than You Think
We have far more power to shape our health than we’ve been told — and it’s time to claim it.
If you’ve ever felt:
🟢 Overwhelmed by conflicting health advice
🟢 Unsure what to feed your family
🟢 Confused about whether food manufacturers can be trusted
You’re not alone.
How Holistic Nutrition Helps
As a holistic nutrition consultant, my job is to make healthy eating and living simple and doable. We believe the body already has what it needs to heal — it just needs the right support:
1. Whole Foods
Choose foods with little to no ingredient list. If you can’t pronounce an ingredient, there’s a good chance your body doesn’t know what to do with it. This makes it a burden your body must detoxify and eliminate.
2. Balanced Lifestyle
Boundaries, play, rest, alignment, meaning, movement, connection, and community all contribute to better health.
3. Sustainable Habits
A habit isn’t sustainable if it drains your joy, feels like punishment, or works against your natural lifestyle. If you dread it and can’t imagine doing it next month — let alone next year — it’s not sustainable.
Prevention Over Treatment
Instead of just treating symptoms, we focus on preventing illness, finding the root cause, and empowering our clients with knowledge and tools they can use for life.
And it works.
